Although desk work is not classified as manual labor, many of the injuries that come from poor posture and repetitive micro-movements can be chronic, debilitating, and painful. Prevention begins with an ergonomic arrangement of office furniture and equipment. With a proper office set-up in place a desk worker can then focus on making effective changes in work habits.
We offer classes that teach workers to improve their desk ergonomics and to build habits before, during, and after work that can minimize distress. Participants learn to relieve neck and shoulder pain, hand issues, and low back problems. They learn the importance of taking regular, brief breaks and what to do during those breaks.
Our classes are interactive and allow each participant to discover specific physical limitations that may contribute to his/her loss of movement/energy and discomfort.

Stress has been correlated to every major disease, i.e. heart disease, stroke, cancer, etc. Although it is important for the body to generate a chemical/physical response to a stressor (in the case that physical action is needed), a constant surplus of action hormones like norepinephrine, cortisol, and adrenalin, results in chronic muscular tension and related debilitating health effects.
Most people have not been taught the science of stress. Without that knowledge, a person might easily find it counterintuitive that putting one’s muscles to work is one of the best ways to relax and to mitigate the effects of a stressor (work, family, or financial issue). We offer stress management classes that help participants to educate, circulate, and to contemplate. Our stress management programs include interactive classroom work, meditation, yoga, traditional exercise, and tai chi.
